Impact of Petroleum Price Increase on Cost of Selected Building Finishings Materials during Early Period of New Millennium Civilian Era in Nigeria

Abstract: This paper was aimed at examining the influence of petroleum price increase on the prices of some selected finishing materials in Niger State from 2000 - 2005 in the light of high construction cost in the Nigerian Construction Industry. The data collected were based on three basic finishings materials, which are floor tiles, gloss/emulsion paints and ceiling boards, with different alternatives for each finishing material. Correlation and Regression Analyses used to analyze the collected data showed some level of high significance between the independent variable (regulated petroleum prices) and the dependent variables (finishing materials) i.e. Coefficient of Determination of values ranging from 61% to 90%. It was concluded that increase in the regulated price of petroleum products accounts for high cost of finishing materials in building projects. One of the recommendations from the study included the need for a better regulating price system to adequately monitor price with regard to building materials.

A Criterial Assessment of Quality Transformations a Plane Elastic Wave in the Solid-State Resonant Sonotrode

Abstract:
The criteria are described optimization of the form of solid-state resonant sonotrodes, which allow without full-scale simulation make a complex assessment of the qualitative characteristics of the transformation of the plane elastic waves:
– the resistance to the bending vibrations at the high value of the coefficient of transformation;
– disposition to the emergence of the bending a vibration modes;
– measure of sharpness of the resonance, which determined by the shape of the profile function.
It is shown that the best is in all respects is sonotrode, the function of the profile of which is described by the
equation of the line of the flow path of the wave vector in the canonical stepped sonotrode.

Some Studies on Semirings and Ordered Semirings

Abstract:
In this paper, we study the properties of Semirings and ordered semirings satisfying the identity a + ab = a. It is proved that Let (S, +, .) be a t.o.semiring satisfying the condition a + ab = a, for all a, b in S. If (S, +) is p.t.o (n.t.o), then (S, .) is non-positively ordered (non-negatively ordered).

A Comparison between Flooding and Bloom Filter Based Multikeyword Search in Peer-To-Peer Network

Abstract:
P2P networks are popular in multikeyword searching systems. There are centralized and decentralized P2P networks. P2P systems can also be structured or unstructured. The common technique like flooding used in unstructured network for keyword search incurs large amount of unnecessary traffic. The bloom filter technique used in keyword search reduces unnecessary traffic in the network. With user demand becoming complex and broad, multikeyword search is becoming popular. This paper gives a comparison between flooding and bloom filter based multikeyword search techniques.

Chemistry of Ground Waters Containing High Fluoride in Boudh District, Orissa

Abstract:
Monitoring of National Hydrograph Network Stations of Central Ground Water Board, in Boudh district has been used in identifying the high Fluoride containing wells in Harbhanga Block. Detailed reappraisal studies with a closer sampling in the particular area revealed presence of high Fluoride along two tracts. Analysis of the data has been used to study the geochemistry of ground waters and the probable source of high Fluoride in these waters.

Research Analysis and Design of Geometric Transformations using Affine Geometry

Abstract:
In this research paper, we focus on affine transformations of the coordinate system. The affine transformation consists of linear transformations (rotation, scaling, and shear) and a translation (shift). It provides a good approximation for the changes in pose of objects that are relatively far from the camera. The affine transformation also serves as the basic block in the analysis and registration of general and non rigid geometric transformations. When the area considered is small enough, the affine transformation serves as a first-order Taylor series approximation of any differentiable geometric transformation.

Microsphere Formation Using an Excimer Laser

Abstract:
Silicon microspheres 800 nm to 10 m have been formed using an excimer laser. The method described in this paper shows that microspheres can be formed with high yield and free of contamination. Silicon microspheres enable new applications where silica microspheres fall short. Due to their semiconducting properties, new photonic devices can be developed for nano-electro-optical applications.

Innovative Improvement of Data Storage Using Error Correction Codes

Abstract:
The need for codes capable of detecting and correcting byte errors are extremely important since many memory systems use b-bit-per-chip organization. Error correcting codes have been used to enhance the reliability and data integrity of computer memory systems (information-bearing objects); data-storage systems are natural consumers of information theoretic ideas. For many issues in data-storage systems, the best trade-off between cost, performance and reliability, passes through the application of error-correcting codes. Error correcting codes that are specialized for data-storage systems is the subject studied by this research. This work describes in some depth the applications of the theory of error-correcting codes, in particular Reed-Solomon codes, for optical media storage, namely, CDs, DVDs etc.

This paper presents model for efficient collision avoidance algorithm that can be used in simulation of crowd behavior in 3d games and simulation project. . Our model is based on a representation of the situation in a (x,y,t) space, which makes it possible to consider both detouring and speed modifications in the avoidance patterns.

Recycling of agricultural wastes in to bio fuel production: An ecofriendly product

Abstract:
Carbohydrate biomass is considered as the future feedstock for bioethanol production because of its low cost and its huge availability. In ancient years ethanol was manufactured by corn and starch, now in these days ethanol is produced by lignocellulosic biomasses and algae in a large excess. Lignocellulose contains carbohydrates units. The major carbohydrate materials found in great quantities to be considered, especially in tropical countries, is wheat bran, sugarcane bagasse and rape straw, which can be easily converted in to ethanol by following pretreatment either by acid or enzyme, hydrolysis and distillation process under feasible conditions. The effects of different pH and temperature with enzymatic saccharification treatment on conversion of these biomasses were studied. The produced glucose was fermented to bioethanol, using Saccharomyces cerevisiae yeast in combination with pentose fermenting enzymes as Pitchia stipititis and the amount of produced bioethanol was measured by gas chromatography. Enzyme treatment at 30ºC and pH 5 is an effective treatment method for converting lignocelluloses to glucose. Up to 23.35% glucose v/v could be achieved after enzyme treatment from bagasse than others. Fermentation of treated lignocelluloses shown that glucose after 3 days fermentation the maximum bioethanol of 19.25% (v/v) by Saccharomyces cerevisiae and 26.75% (v/v) was attained in case of sugarcane bagasse by using Pitchia stipititis in combination with S. cerevisiae. In this paper comparative study of enzymatic treatment and acid treatment is also analyzed. This process is expected to be useful for the bioethanol production from wheat bran, sugarcane bagasse and rape straw as a source of carbohydrate renewable biomass from abundant agricultural by product.

Magneto hydrodynamic Couple stress Squeeze Film Lubrication of Triangular Plates

Abstract:
In this paper the analysis of the effect of transverse magnetic field on the couple stress squeeze film lubrication between triangular plates is presented. The modified Reynolds equation is derived. The closed form expressions are obtained for the MHD squeeze film pressure, load carrying capacity and squeeze film time. The results are presented for different values of operating parameters. It is observed, that the effect of applied magnetic field on the squeeze film lubrication between triangular plates with couple stress fluids is to increase the load carrying capacity significantly and to delay the time of approach as compared to the corresponding non-magnetic case.

A Novel Controlling Of Micro-Grid And Islanding Operations Of Distributed Generation Systems With Power Electronic Devices

Abstract:
The main aim of this paper is to propose a concept of micro-grid under smart distribution environment conditions with distributed generation resources like solar, wind and fuel etc. In present scenario, the importance of distribution sources is very high for maintaining the system reliability and also for providing backup generation under islanding condition and also as well as in grid-connected conditions. For meeting these limitations this paper proposes a new control structure called power-voltage- current controller. Basically, the main aim of these controller is to provide flexible and robust distributed generation operation control characteristics such as (a) control of PQ and PV in grid connected mode. (b) To provide regulated power under micro-grid. (c) For providing smooth transients between islanding and grid-connected modes and (4) finally, this controller also concentrates on reduction of distortions/harmonics in proposed system which is caused by heavily non-linear loading conditions. The performance of this system is verified by using Matlab/simulink tool box.

High Frequency and Multi Level Inverter using HM Technique for Fuel Cell Drives

Abstract:
A hybrid modulation technique consisting of single-reference six pulse modulation (SRSPM) for front end dc/dc converter and 33% modulation to the three-phase inverter. Applying proposed SRSPM to control front-end dc/dc converter, high frequency (HF) pulsating dc voltage waveform is produced, that is equivalent to six-pulse output at 6× line frequency (rectified 6-pulse output of balanced three-phase ac waveforms) once averaged. It reduces the control complexity owing to single-reference three-phase modulation as compared to conventional three-reference three-phase SPWM. Also it eliminates the necessity of dc-link capacitor which reduces the cost and volume. Eliminating dc link capacitor helps in retaining the modulated information at the input of the three-phase inverter. It requires only 33% (one third) modulation of the inverter devices to produce balanced three-phase voltage waveforms resulting in significant saving in (at least 66%) switching losses of inverter semiconductor devices. At any instant of line cycle, only two switches are required to switch at HF and remaining switches retain their unique state of either ON or OFF.
