Abstract: This paper presents a literature survey conducted for research oriented developments made till. The significance of this paper would be to provide a deep rooted understanding and knowledge transfer regarding existing approaches for gene sequencing and alignments using Smith Waterman algorithms and their respective strengths and weaknesses. In order to develop or perform any quality research it is always advised to conduct research goal oriented literature survey that could facilitate an in depth understanding of research work and an objective can be formulated on the basis of gaps existing between present requirements and existing approaches. Gene sequencing problems are one of the predominant issues for researchers to come up with optimized system model that could facilitate optimum processing and efficiency without introducing overheads in terms of memory and time. This research is oriented towards developing such kind of system while taking into consideration of dynamic programming approach called Smith Waterman algorithm in its enhanced form decorated with other supporting and optimized techniques. This paper provides an introduction oriented knowledge transfer so as to provide a brief introduction of research domain, research gap and motivations, objective formulated and proposed systems to accomplish ultimate objectives.

Design and Development of Stamping Bracket of Snowmobile Using Computer Aided Engineering

Abstract: Development of new products is extremely essential for the success and smooth running of every industry. Companies have to constantly inject innovations and design efforts to make the design processes easy and to attract consumers in a constantly in a evolving and highly competitive market with best quality . Keeping ahead of the competition by bringing new and exciting products to market fast, and at the necessary level of quality, presents a major engineering challenge. A new casting bracket in place of old stamping brackets in snowmobile chassis development process is described, which introduces advanced FEM and Optimization technology into the concept development phase. Detailed predictions of interacting parts in a mechanism assembly are made possible through use of value engineering based process and material selection and advanced simulation technology. Design optimization is then employed using the modeling as a virtual testing ground for design variants. The approach provides clear design direction and helps to improve performance and reduce the unnecessary welding efforts of bracket manufacturing. Design is an intelligent activity that begins with design requirements and ends with a product description. Using Altair Optistruct was able to significantly reduce design time by sub modeling with structural optimization. The resultant casting bracket design showed superior performance characteristics. And finely the manufacturer had to put less efforts in stamping and part welding , which reduced the manufacturing time and cost also.

Utilization of Encryption for Security in SCADA Networks

Abstract: Supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) are applications that collect data from a system in order to automate the monitoring and controlling of its activities. Several industrial fields such as, electric utilities, water supplies and buildings' facilities have already adopted SCADA systems to increase the efficiency and reduce cost. However, the IT community is concerned about the level of security that any applied SCADA system provides. This paper concentrates on the major security threats encountered in SCADA systems. In addition, it discusses a new proposed methodology in order to increase the system security with minimal impact on efficiency. The proposed scheme provides several security services which are mutual authentication, confidentiality, data integrity and accountability.

Data Warehouse Designing: Dimensional Modelling and E-R Modelling

Abstract: The Data Warehouse (DW) is considered as a collection of integrated, detailed, historical data, collected from different sources . DW is used to collect data designed to support management decision making. There are so many approaches in designing a data warehouse both in conceptual and logical design phases. The conceptual design approaches are dimensional fact model, multidimensional E/R model, starER model and object-oriented multidimensional model. And the logical design approaches are flat schema, star schema, fact constellation schema, galaxy schema and snowflake schema. In this paper we have focused on comparison of Dimensional Modelling AND E-R modelling in the Data Warehouse. Dimensional Modelling (DM) is most popular technique in data warehousing. In DM a model of tables and relations is used to optimize decision support query performance in relational databases. And conventional E-R models are used to remove redundancy in the data model, facilitate retrieval of individual records having certain critical identifiers, and optimize On-line Transaction Processing (OLTP) performance.

Structural Properties Of P-Type Boron Doped Carbon Film From Hydrocarbon Palm Oil For Photovoltaic Heterojunction Solar Cell Device

Abstract: The complex-structured boron doped amorphous carbon were prepared from natural hydrocarbon palm oil precursor deposited by negative bias substrate voltage of 0 V and -20 V are presented. Field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) revealed the carbon films were very complex-structured. The open circuit voltage (Voc), current density (Jsc), fill factor (FF) and efficiency (η) of Au/a-C:B/n-Si/Au heterojunction solar cell device at 0 V were approximately 254 mV, 0.2324 mA/cm2, 0.241, and 0.0141%, respectively. Meanwhile, the Voc, Jsc, FF and η of Au/a-C:B/n-Si/Au heterojunction solar cell device at -20 V were 426 mV, 5.351mA/cm2, 0.243, and 0.553%, respectively. The results showed the precursor palm oil and negative substrate DC bias of -20 V can be used as an alternative precursor and technique for fabricated heterojunction solar cell device.

Green Computing: Emerging Trends in Information and Communication Technology

Abstract: Green computing or green IT, refers to environmentally sustainable computing or IT whose goals are to reduce the use of hazardous materials, maximize energy efficiency during the product's lifetime, and promote the recyclability or biodegradability of defunct products and factory waste. Green computing is the term used to denote efficient use of resources in computing. This term generally relates to the use of computing resources in conjunction with minimizing environmental impact, maximizing economic viability and ensuring social duties. Green Computing concentrates on energy efficiency, reducing resource consumption and disposing of electronic waste in a responsible manner. Green computing is the environmentally responsible use of computers and related resources. Such practices include the implementation of energy-efficient central processing units (CPUs), servers and peripherals as well as reduced resource consumption and proper disposal of electronic waste (e-waste). Computers today have become a necessity not only in offices but also at homes.

Slip Flow and Magneto-NANOFLUID over an Exponentially Stretching Permeable Sheet with Heat Generation/Absorption

Abstract: The present study analyzes the steady boundary layer slip flow of magneto-nanofluid due to an exponentially permeable stretching sheet with heat generation/absorption. In this paper, the effects of Brownian motion and thermophoresis on heat transfer and nanoparticle volume friction are considered. Using shooting technique along with fourth-order Runge-Kutta method the transformed equations are solved. The study reveals that the governing parameters, namely, the magnetic parameter, wall mass suction parameter, Prandtl number, the Lewis number, slip parameter, heat generation/absorption parameter, Brownian motion parameter, and thermophoresis parameter, have major effects on the flow field, the heat transfer, and the nanoparticle volume fraction as well as skin friction, local Nusselt number and local Sherwood number has been discussed in detail.
