S. Benchekroun, A. Iben brahim, A. El mouraouah , L. Ouadif, K. Baba

Abstract:-
The Rif mountain-belt is considered the most seismically active chain in Morocco. In this study we use deterministic approach to assess the seismic hazard within the Rif region, in long term. For this purpose, we apply empirical formulas in order to compute the maximum credible earthquake (MCE) taking into account several criteria related to seismic potential of the fault. The results show that for the Rif region, the MCE has a magnitude of 6.9 that could occur every 10000 years (period of reference for the MCE). Using a suitable empirical attenuation law for our study region, we compute the accelerations that could be generated by the maximum magnitude estimated for each fault. A maximum accelerations contour map is then produced. This map shows zones with high seismic hazard, particularly..............

Identification of changes in the microstructure of damaged elements spherical joint
Mr. Sc. Mujanović Enes, Dr. Sc. Denijal Sprečić

Abstract:- Spherical joint are a special kind of mechanisms which serve to transmit the torque and the force between the individual aggregates, respectively, in which case their shafts, connected with this gear, are under certain constant angle or under a variable (changing) angle during the operation. These gear are widely used in automobile industry. The main characteristic of these gears in that during the torque transmission relative moving (displacing) in allowed, which can be under an angle or translatory and that, except for purely mechanical losses, there are no other losses such as may be the torque inscrease or decrease. During the operation damages occur on the parts (elements) of hinged gear. For this reason the analysis of the microstructure is essntial to establish the causes and to decrease the damages on the observed parts.

Real-World Automation Control through the USB Interface
Robert H. Sturges

Abstract:- The shift in design of the personal computer to address applications in the area of multimedia and the obsolescence of ports for convenient access to hardware-software interfaces has begun to limit opportunities for the practice of custom-designed controls for automation. While several third-party hardware-software control packages exist, their learning curves and expense has not addressed the more fundamental needs of the designer to simply access and control a few bits or words of real-time information. This design shift has also given rise to the need for specialists in programming or information technology where the application may not support such effort. We address this need by providing a framework and examples of inexpensive hardware and simplified software with its logical design expressed in interdisciplinary form.

Power Quality Enhancement in Power System Network using DSTACOM
Dr. P. Chandra Sekhar

Abstract:- Use of visible light for communication is an old concept. E.g.: Smoke signals or lighthouses for guiding ships have been used for centuries. However, there has been very little work related to use of visible light to transfer streams of data. A major step towards this was completed by Professor Harald Haas and was demonstrated by him making use of LED lamp for data transfer. However, this experiment was very costly. In this paper, we propose to make use of hardware that are already integrated...........

Abstract:- Several studies were conducted on the accidents of cars using the fundamental principles of physics and engineering including Newton's Laws of Motion and First Law of Thermodynamics. The objective of this study is to determine the influence of and pavement friction on the initial velocity. Regression analysis on the results of these variables was conducted. Excellent correlation coefficient was found for the relationship at α = 0.05 significance level.

High-efficiency Light Couplers of Sunlight Guiding Systems for Indoor Illumination
Yun-Chiang Hsu, Yi-Ta Shen, Wei-Feng Hsu

Abstract:- We presented theoretical models of symmetric and asymmetric light couplers of daylighting systems for direct indoor illumination, and conducted numerical simulations using Matlab and Lighttools. Based on the simulation results, the accumulation coupling efficiencies are over 96% for the symmetric and asymmetric light couplers when large f-number concentrators (e.g., f/5.0) are used in a two-to-one light guiding system. When a large number of sunlight concentrators are used to gather sunlight and a coupling angle of 40 degree is assumed, the asymmetric couplers (58.6 %) provide higher coupling efficiencies of the guided sunlight than do the symmetric couplers (36.1%).

Performance of PCM and Cooking Vessel in Solar Cooking System
Abinaya Sorna Jothi P., Rajakumar S.

Abstract:- In this system the thermal performance of solar cooker is improved by using various heat enhancement techniques. The heat enhancement techniques for cooking vessel have been proposed for both late evening hours and sun shine hours. The heat enhancement technique during the sunshine hours was, introducing the annular cavity under the cooking vessel. During late evening hours PCM having the properties of thermal storage have been used as the source of heat for the cooking unit .The annular fins have been proposed for the maximum heat absorption to the PCM present in the system. In this system new PCM substance called Benzoic acid is used because its melting point is around 122.7OC.The charging and discharging process of the system for both steady state and transient system have been analyzed and the melting of the PCM with respect to change in distance and time have been analyzed.

Combustion evaluation of Diesel - Soyabean methyl ester blends using variable piston geometry in direct injection compression ignition engine
Hariram V., Isaac Prem Kumar I. J.

Abstract:- The present paper is focussed on analysing experimentally the combustion and heat release characteristics of Soyabean biodiesel in compression ignition engine. Biodiesel is formed by transesterification of Soyabean crude oil using sodium hydroxide and methanol which resulted in 95% of Soyabean biodiesel. The piston geometry of the engine was varied by erosion and electrochemical deposition of metals to form Deep Torodial and Shallow Torodial combustion chamber. The results showed that SOME biodiesel exhibits better combustion characteristics with Shallow Torodial piston geometry than Deep Torodial piston geometry. The combustion peak temperature was increased by 4% to 6% in Shallow Torodial piston where as Deep Torodial piston showed 3% to 5% negative improvement in cylinder pressure. The rate of heat release also showed positive improvements with Shallow Torodial piston geometry.

Eisa Bashier M. Tayeb, A. Taifour Ali, Ahmed A. Emam

Abstract:- Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) has been applied to many fields in recent years. Among them, the neural networks with Back Propagation algorithm appear to be most popular and have been widely used in applications such as forecasting and classification problems. This paper presents a study of short-term load forecasting using Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs) and applied it to the Sudan National Electric Company NEC. Neuroshell2 software was used to provide back-propagation neural networks. ANN model used to forecast the load with the performance error as a measure characteristic. The error obtained by comparing the forecasted load data with actual load data.

Multi Machine Power System Stabilizer Design Using Particle Swarm Optimization Technique
S. Sasi Rekha

Abstract:- In this paper, multi objective design of multi-machine Power System Stabilizers (PSSs) using Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) is presented. The stabilizers are tuned to simultaneously shift the lightly damped and undammed electro-mechanical modes of all machines to a prescribed zone in the s-plane. A multi objective problem is formulated to optimize a composite set of objective functions comprising the damping factor, and the damping ratio of the lightly damped electromechanical modes. The PSSs parameters tuning problem is converted to an optimization problem which is solved by PSO with the eigen value-based multi objective function. The proposed PSO based PSSs is tested on a multi machine power system under different operating conditions and disturbances through eigen value analysis and some performance indices to illustrate its robust performance. The eigen value sensitivity analysis has been used for PSS design in many literatures under deterministic system operating conditions. To consider the effect of more system operating factors, the technique of probabilistic eigen value analysis was proposed and has been applied for the parameter design of power system damping controllers. In the probabilistic eigen value analysis the system stability is enhanced by shifting the distribution ranges of the critical eigen values to the left side of the complex plane. A new approach for the optimal decentralized design of PSSs with output feedback is investigated in.
