Mechanical Power Assistance to Rickshaw Puller
Dhruv Duggal

Abstract: Bicycle Rickshaw has always seen as a comfort to traveller but not to the driver. The Rickshaws which have been in use are contained with high gear ratio. Many rickshaw pullers are not Health conscious and therefore not properly nourished. So ,to pull a Rickshaw poses a great danger to their lives as they come under too much of physical and mental strain. Mechanical Assistance in providing the rickshaw pullers would ease out their effort and thus increase efficiency, making it cost efficient.

Appraisal of groundwater quality using GIS with a special emphasis on fluoride contamination in Ranebennur Taluka, Karnataka, India
D S Viswanath, Dr.H.B.Aravinda , Dr.E.T. Puttaiah

Abstract: The present study was carried out to know the Fluoride content in the groundwater. The occurrence of fluoride is mainly due to the over exploitation of groundwater. The ground water is contaminated with Fluoride because rock beds containing fluoride minirals come in contact with groundwater. The more incidence of dental fluorosis among the rural mass made it necessary to find out the fluoride contamination of ground water. And adopt remedial measures to the people on the risk of fluorosis. A total of 50 Groundwater (GW) samples were collected during the study period. The objective of the study is to find out the spatial distribution of fluoride in pre-monsoon and post-monsoon period using GIS and remote sensing. The fluoride concentration in groundwater varies from 1.2 mg/l to 3.6 mg/L in pre-monsoon and 1.0 mg/L to 3.6 mg/l in post-monsoon. The overall distribution of fluoride concentration in the study area during the pre-monsoon and post-monsoon periods indicates slight dilution effect owing to fresh water recharge on account of rain fall. The analysis was made in GIS for identifying the evaluation fluoride contamination region in the study area. The concentration of fluoride above 1.5 mg/l of fluoride concentration, which is a maximum permissible limit recently suggested by Bureau of Indian Standard (BIS) (BIS: 10500, 2010) was observed in 45 samples in pre-monsoon 43 samples in post-monsoon and remaining 5 and 7 samples in safe limit respectively. This study identified that Fluoride concentration is 2 – 3 ppm (46%) and 3 – 4 ppm (28%) in pre-monsoon and 25% in post-monsoon in Ranebennur Taluka, Haveri district. Further remedial measures for fluoride have to be carried out in the study area. Mapping of high fluoride areas are useful to plan and to bring safe drinking water from low fluoride areas.

Air Flow Characteristics of an Air Cooled Condenser used in Thermal Power Plant
Devesh Kumar Garg, Dr. Rohit Rajvaidya

Abstract: The effect of wind speed on a 5 × 5 fan air cooled steam condenser (ACC) under windy conditions is investigated using computational fluid dynamics. It is found that cross winds significantly reduce the air flow rate that is delivered by the fans in normal conditions. The effect of wind speed is found to be varying for different fan deck heights of the air cooled condenser. It is recommended that at the initial stage of a power plant which is equipped with an air cooled condenser, the wind effects analysis is necessary and helpful in mitigating the adverse effect of winds.

MHD Stagnation Point Flow of A MICROPOLAR Fluid over a Stretching Surface with Heat Source/Sink, Chemical Reaction and Viscous Dissipation
K. Surya Narayana Reddy, M. Sreedhar Babu, S. Vijaya Kumar Varma, N. Bhaskar Reddy

Abstract: The steady laminar two dimensional stagnation point flow of an incompressible electrically conducting magneto-micropolar fluid over a permeable stretching surface with heat source/sink and viscous dissipation in the presence of mass transfer and chemical reaction has been studied. Using the similarity transformations, the governing equations have been transformed into a system of ordinary differential equations. These differential equations are highly nonlinear which cannot be solved analytically. Therefore, forth order Runge-Kutta method along with shooting technique has been used for solving it. Numerical results are obtained for the skin-friction coefficient, the local Nusselt number and Sherwood number as well as the velocity, temperature and concentration profiles for different values of the governing parameters, namely, velocity ratio parameter, boundary parameter, material parameter, magnetic parameter, Prandtl number, Eckert number, heat source/sink parameter, Schmidt number and chemical reaction parameter.
Keywords: micropolar fluid, MHD, Stretching surface, viscous dissipation, heat source or sink and chemical reaction.

Multi-Parameter Measurement of ICU Patient Using GSM and Embedded Technology
V. S. Kharote-Chavan, Prof. Satyanarayana Ramchandra Rao

Abstract: GSM technology is used to monitor the different parameters of an ICU patient remotely and also control over medicine dosage is provided. Measurements of vital signs and behavioral patterns can be translated into accurate predictors of health risk ,even at an early stage and can be combined with alarm triggering systems in order to initiate the appropriate actions. The conventional methods including wet adhesive Ag/AgCl electrodes for HR and HRV, the capnograph device for respiratory status and pulse oximetry for oxyhemoglobin saturation provide excellent signals but are expensive, troublesome and inconvenient. A method to monitor physiological information based on GSM offers a new means for health monitoring. In this paper, we review the latest developments in monitoring and discuss the challenges and future directions for this field.

Study on the Anticipatory Coarticulatory Effect of Chinese Bi-syllabic Words
Maolin Wang, Ziyu Xiong

Abstract: In this study, trans-consonantal vowel-to-vowel anticipatory coarticulation in Chinese is investigated. The target words are in the form of 'ba.bV2', and the subjects are eight native speakers of standard Chinese. Vowel formants are examined at the offset, middle and onset points of the target vowel. Results show that trans-segmental coarticulation exists in Chinese, especially at the offset point of the target vowel. Coarticulation is more likely to occur on F2, and in Chinese, coarticulatory effect does not extend to the onset point of the vowel.

Sketch Based Image Retrieval Using BMMA and SEMI-BMMA
Kshema Mariyam Wilson, Rosna Shihab

Abstract: During past few years, people have been substantially attracted towards Content-Based Image Retrieval (CBIR) because of its varied multimedia applications. CBIR is one of the most popular research areas of digital image processing. The goal of the CBIR is to extract the visual features of the image such as color, texture or shape. An attempt is made to develop a Sketch Based Image Retrieval (SBIR) making it use of the features such as shape or form of the object [1]. This paper aims to introduce the creation and design of SBIR system making use of extraction techniques of Biased Maximum Margin Analysis (BMMA) and a Semi-Supervised Biased Maximum Margin Analysis (Semi BMMA) [2].. With the help of existing methods, design a task specific descriptor, which can handle the informational gap between a sketch and a colored image. The result of SBIR includes the set of positive images (relevant) and negative images (irrelevant). Iterative process acts on the positive set for the optimal extraction of the object. By using Laplacian regularizer to BMMA, the Semi BMMA integrates the information of unlabelled samples [2] to result in the better extraction of refined set of objects. The SBIR have several applications such as digital libraries, crime prevention, photo sharing sites etc. An important application is a matching a forensic image to gallery of mug shot images.

A Novel Vector Field Transform for Gray-Scale Images
S Kiran Babu, Sk Ruksana Begum, D .Subba Rao

Abstract:In this paper, a novel vector field transform is proposed for gray-scale images, which is based on the
electro-static analogy. By introducing the item of gray-scale difference into the repulsion vector between image
points, the diffusing vector field is obtained by the transform. Then the primitive areas can be extracted based on
the diffusing vector field with a proposed area-expanding method. A new image segmentation method is then
presented by merging primitive areas. The experimental results prove the effectiveness of the proposed image
segmentation method.

A Novel Technique in Visual Cryptography
B. Ravi Kumar1, P.Srikanth

Abstract: At the present time, in commercial, military and medical fields, the protections of susceptible information are most important concern. To resolve the reliability problems for secret images, a visual cryptography scheme is a good choice. Visual cryptography is a very protected and exclusive method to protect secrets. Visual cryptography is an encryption technique which is used to hide information which is present in an image.Unlike raditional cryptographic schemes, it uses human eyes to recover the secret without any complex decryption algorithms and with out facility of computers. It is a secret sharing scheme which uses images distributed as shares such that, when the shares are superimposed, a hidden secret image is revealed .In this paper we represent we represtnes the novel tachnique to hide secret information pixel into cover image with providing more visual quality of cover images compare to other technique. Keywords: Secret image sharing, cryptography ,visual quality of image, pixel expansion
